Biocomposite, Handle/Hand Saws
Environmental awareness and sustainable development are more important than ever, and as part of our commitment at G-MAN Tools AB, we contribute by using Biocomposite in the handles of our handsaws. The use of this material offers a range of benefits for both the environment and users by providing a new material that combines strength and sustainability.
What is Biocomposite?
Composites are a combination of materials where each individual material contributes its unique properties to create a new construction material with new characteristics.
Biocomposite consists of materials where at least one ingredient is bio-based, creating a unique composition that is strong, durable, and easy to recycle. The handle developed by G-MAN Tools is made from nearly entirely Biocomposite-based material (wood fibers), providing an eco-friendly solution that reduces the need for non-renewable resources and promotes recycling. Although it consists of natural fibers, it shares the properties of polystyrene, a material based on fossil fuels.
By using Biocomposite material, the environmental footprint is reduced by 65% compared to if the handle were made of polystyrene. G-MAN Tools AB has chosen wood fibers from sustainable forestry, certified according to FCS/PEFS standards, in their material development.
Another advantage of Biocomposite is that it is easier to recycle than, for example, polystyrene.

Sustainability and Benefits
The material enables a production of the saw handle with a lower environmental impact as it can be recycled up to seven times. This, in turn, reduces the need for new material and significantly decreases the carbon footprint.
Hand saws with handles made of Biocomposite provide not only environmental benefits but also improved ergonomics and design. The material allows for a flexible design that traditional wood materials cannot offer, while still retaining a natural feel, a comfortable grip, and even a scent of natural wood. This, of course, also contributes to a good experience for our users.
As the demand for sustainable materials increases, so does the interest in Biocomposite. This material offers a solution to many of today’s environmental challenges by reducing dependence on fossil fuels, decreasing waste, and promoting reuse and recycling.
Biocomposite is a great example of how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand. By combining the properties of natural and synthetic materials, we can create a new material and at the same time meet today’s and tomorrow’s environmental challenges.

A brief overview of Biocomposite
- Consists of bio-based components, making it strong, durable, and easier to recycle.
- Contributes to less need for fossil fuels, promotes recycling, and reduces environmental impact.
- Reduces the environmental footprint by 65% compared to traditional materials like polystyrene.
- As part of sustainable development, G-MAN Tools AB is the first to use Biocomposite in the handle of their hand saw.
