About G-MAN
Forestry workers from the surrounding villages travelled to Edsbyn to purchase their tools or to have them repaired by the local blacksmith. Quite often they also brought with them own ideas and views on how to design and improve existing tools. This lead to a natural development of the tool industry in the region. In the middle of the 20th century, Edsbyn had several small industries, making axes, saws, and different hand tools for forestry workers. Today, G-Man Tools AB is proudly carrying on the tradition of saw making, maintaining the high quality, by the use of Swedish raw material and modern manufacturing techniques.
The company was officially founded on July 12,1984, under the name of Edsbytool AB. The basic business concept was to build on and develope the skill and tradition existing in the region in production and marketing of saws and saw blades for wood. In 1987, Edsbytool joined forces with A/S Grorud Jernvarefabrik of Norway. The Norwegian production and sales were moved to Edsbyn and since their saws were widely known under the trade mark of G-MAN, the company also changed its name to the present G-MAN TOOL AB. This meant a rapid increase of volume and turnover, and since then a steady increase of sales has lead to a consolidation of the company, which at present employs 25 persons. During the last few years, considerable investments in machinery and buildings have been made, in order to be well prepared for the future. Export business has always been very important and today, about 80% of the production is exported to more than 30 different markets all over the world. All operations are carried out in our own building, located in Ovanåker, Edsbyn.
